What the game stores, and where

Everything the game remembers about you lives on your own phone, in the app's own storage:

• Your high scores, run history and streak.
• The three-letter tag you type on the results screen.
• Your settings — sound, haptics, effects level, reduced motion, high contrast, timing calibration and reminders.

None of this leaves the device. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it, and Options → Wipe all data deletes it without uninstalling.

No advertising

This version of the game contains no advertising and no advertising software of any kind. It does not read your device's advertising ID. If advertising is ever added, this policy will be updated and the Play listing's Data safety section will be updated before that version is released.

No accounts, no sign-in, no online leaderboard

The game never asks who you are. The leaderboard you see is your own device's — it is a list of your own runs. Nothing is uploaded and no scores are shared between players.

Diagnostic reports

The Android app does not send any diagnostic or usage information automatically.

There is one place where information can be sent, and only you can trigger it. Under Options → Device Check, the game builds a plain-text technical report — the app version, your screen size and refresh rate, the graphics setting it chose, audio timing numbers and any recent error messages — and shows it to you. If you then choose Send report, your phone's normal share sheet opens and you decide where it goes. The report contains no name, no email address, no contacts, no location and no identifier tied to you. Nothing is sent unless you tap that button and pick a destination.

The web version of the game, played in a browser at this address, may send that same technical report automatically to help find crashes. It contains the same fields and no personal information, and it can be switched off under Options → Share stats. The Android app ignores this setting because it never sends anything either way.

Permissions the app asks for

• Vibration — for the taps you feel when you hit a note. Turn it off under Options → Haptics.
• Notifications — only if you turn reminders on. The game asks once, after you have finished a run, and never asks again if you decline. The reminders are generated on your phone; no server is involved and nothing about you is sent to enable them.
• Internet access — required by the framework the app is built on. The Android app does not use it to send or receive your information.

Children

Blackout Ed is not directed at children under 13, and because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.

Changes to this policy

If the game starts doing something this page does not describe — advertising, an online leaderboard, or anything else that sends information off your device — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change, before that version is released.
