Puzzle guide
Free nonogram puzzles, with a new one every day
A nonogram is a picture hidden in a grid. The numbers beside each row and above each column tell you how many squares to fill, and in what groups. Work it out line by line and a picture appears.
PAW PIXELS is our nonogram game, starring Ranger the dog. It starts with tiny 5x5 pictures for beginners and builds up to big 15x15 ones. Every picture has exactly one answer and can be solved by logic alone, so you never have to guess.
How to play
- Each number is a run of filled squares in that row or column.
- "3 1" means three filled squares in a row, at least one gap, then one more.
- Mark squares you know are empty with an X so you don't fill them by mistake.
- When every row and column matches its numbers, the picture is done.
Tips
- Start with the biggest numbers. In a 10-wide row, a 7 must cover the middle 4 squares wherever it sits.
- Look for rows that are completely full or completely empty (a 0 or a number equal to the width).
- Fill in the edges: a number touching the wall often fixes several squares at once.
- Swap between rows and columns. Each square you place gives the crossing line a new clue.

They're the same kind of puzzle. Nonogram, picross, griddlers and paint-by-numbers logic are all names for filling a grid from row and column clues to reveal a picture.
Are the puzzles good for beginners?

Is there a daily nonogram?
Yes. There's a new daily picture every day, the same one for everyone, with a streak and a Share button.
Is it free?
Yes. Every puzzle is free to play in your browser. There are no ads, no sign-up and nothing to download.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers. Your progress is saved on the device you play on.
