What ages is it for?

About 4 to adult. The game asks your age and opens the right levels; older players can jump straight to algebra, and anyone can turn on every level in Settings.

Does it show how to get the answer?

Yes. Every question has a hint and a Show me how button with each step, and when you miss one it shows the steps and offers one like it to try.
