Free times tables practice, 1 to 12

Ranger's Math Trail teaches multiplication facts in steps: the easy ones (×0, ×1, ×2, ×5, ×10) first, then facts to 5 × 5, then 10 × 10, then the full 12 × 12 table and two-digit numbers times one digit.

Every fact comes with a way to work it out, not just the answer: skip counting, a picture of rows of dots, or splitting a hard fact into two easy ones. Fetch Dash is a 60-second race to make the facts quick.

How to do it

  1. Multiplying is adding equal groups: 4 × 6 means 4 groups of 6.
  2. Skip count for small facts: 3 × 5 is 5, 10, 15.
  3. Split a hard fact into easier ones: 7 × 8 = 7 × 4 + 7 × 4 = 28 + 28 = 56.
  4. Flip it if the other way is easier: 9 × 2 is the same as 2 × 9.

Worked examples

Example 14 × 5 = ?

Questions

What is the fastest way to learn the times tables?

A few minutes every day. Learn the easy families first (0, 1, 2, 5, 10), then use them to work out the rest, and race yourself once the facts feel familiar.

Can I practice only up to 10 × 10?

Yes. In Settings, set Times tables up to 5, 10 or 12. Young kids start at 5 or 10 automatically.
